A Mile Away

The famous Bran Castle!

🧛🏻‍♂️ Of course I could not miss in our Romania tour to show Alex and my mother the famous Bran Castle, a national monument and landmark in Romania. This is a spectacular castle build on the top of the rock in the city Bran from the region Transylvania, 25 kilometres southwest of Brasov. Very easy to reach from Brasov city as there are buses every 30 minutes from the bus station 2 (“Autogara 2” in Romanian language). The journey take 40 minutes and cost 8 Ron per person. The ticket for the castle is 40 Ron per person.

Bran is an amazing castle steeped in history and fiction. It is a historical building, elegant and well preserved with an interesting past. The history of the Royal Family that resided in the castle for the 1st half of the 20th century is fascinating. The castle has become more famous due Bran Stoker’s Dracula, but the real history surrounding this place is also very interesting.

We were so happy to see that every room of the castle has descriptions in several language plus audio.

If you visit Bran Castle I recommend you to visit also Rasnov citadel and Peles Castle. If you visit in the summer and you plan to stay more days I suggest you to visit also “Babele and Sfinxul”. If you came in winter time and you love to ski, I suggest you to go to ski in “Poiana Brasov”, which is near Brasov city. I was many time in Poiana Brasov to many ski competitions and they have great slopes there.

We had the hotel in Brasov for 3 nights and in this way we were able to visit many interesting site around, traveling with the public bus and train until Peles Castle, Rasnov citadel and Bran. The ticket for this transport was cheap. I recommend to explore Brasov city (Alex told me that look like German old city). There you can find many restaurants and terraces and I encourage you to try traditional Romanian food.
